Why doesn't Galapagos Adventures accept credit cards ?

Our services are free to you.  We earn money by being paid a commission from the suppliers whose services we sell.  Some of the services we provide to our clients are non-commissionable but necessary to complete the tour package.  For example airline tickets to Galapagos, National Park fees, recompression chamber fees and the airport transfers are all non-commissionable.  Credit card companies charge merchants between 3 to 6% of the TOTAL amount charged.  This may not sound like much but it is a huge percentage of the commission.  Couple this with the fact we would lose 3 to 6% of the money collected via credit card for services which are not commissionable and it is easy to understand why we do not accept them.
In the past, we would let people use a credit card if they would pay this fee but we were told by the credit card company that it was against the "rules" to pass the fee on to the clients so we discontinued accepting them.
