This page shows a price comparison between 2 IDENTICAL tours in 2020 - one organized by the World Wildlife Fund / Natural Habitat Adventures and one organized by Galapagos Adventures.
There are two differences:
1. If you travel with WWF, you must travel on a specific yacht over specific dates, stay in specific hotels, and do specific tours all that has been pre-selected for you. A tour set up for you by Galapagos Adventures can be done ANYTIME that you want to travel on ANY yacht/ship that you choose (based on space availability). You get to stay the in hotels you select and do the tours that you want to do.
2. The Galapagos Adventures trip will cost around $2000 LESS per person. See the actual prices below.

Galapagos Adventures can organize an identical trip (minus the "expeditions leader") using the same yacht, staying at the same hotel and including everything that is included on the WWF trip.
They include: Accommodations; meals from breakfast on Day 2 to breakfast on Day 10; safe drinking water; services of professional expedition leaders, local guides and boat crew;most gratuities; airport transfers; 2 nights in Quito, a Quito city tour, use of wetsuits and snorkel gear in Galapagos and Galapagos National Park and transit control card fees.
They do not include: Travel to and from Quito; round trip flights between Quito and the Galapagos (to be added to your invoice); some gratuities; alcohol, items of a personal nature (phone calls, laundry, etc.), travel insurance; optional activities; anything else not specifically mentioned as included.

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A PRE-PACKAGED TOUR IS SO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN CUSTOM BUILT TOUR????
In the example listed above, the World Wildlife Fund chartered the yacht for the specific dates listed. They then added in all extras (Quito hotels, tours, transfer, etc) to create the tour. Once the tour is organized, they needed to market it and marketing is expensive. They print thousands of full color brochures which they mail all over the US. They take out full color ads in magazines. They build in the cost of all the expenses associated with having an "expedition leader" on the trip. All these additional expenses must be covered by someone and that someone is the people who sign up for the trip. By only building tours on demand, Galapagos Adventures eliminates the need for all of these additional expenses and thus we can offer the same exact tour at ANYTIME you want to travel at a much lower price.
